Farm Project

Over the past years, Ugacof has been building a strong relationship with farmers from whom coffee is sourced. The company has been working continuously to increase and improve the quality and quantity produced. One important aspect of this quality improvement is the production of washed Robusta coffee.

The project was designed in 3 districts: Iganga, Masaka and Kamuli. Each district has now its group of farmers working closely. In total almost 6000 farmers and their families are benefiting from the project. Their income from delivering coffee to Ugacof has improved by 25 % compared to the middle men farm gate price.

Two operational washing station sites have been build and equipped with the help of our partners:

• In Iganga (East of Kampala)
  Capacity : 25 Mt/day of coffee cherry (eq. 5 Mt/day green export)
• In Masaka (West Uganda)
  capacity : 10 Mt/day of coffee cherry (eq. 2 Mt/day green export)

One additional project is held with some partners in Paidha (West Nile, Northern Uganda), where we helped the construction of 2 washing station sites for the association Nihacofa (Nile Highland Arabica Coffee Farmers Association).
